BREAKING NEWS

A priest in Belize City was the victim of a robbery last night. It happened at the St. Martin de Porres parish church on Lake Independence area just before 9 o’clock last night.

Reports are that Sunday evening service had ended and the priest was walking from the Church building to the Rectory office when he was attacked.  According to reports, a man described as having a “deep voice” ordered the priest to “keep still.” Indications are that the robber went after the church’s collection an tithes.

The shocking holdup sent a small group of parishoners who were still in the area fleeing in fright from the scene. No one was physically hurt in the incident.

A person who attended the Sunday evening Mass said that the priest who was held up had just preaced a touching Homily on youth empowerment and how young people can use their God-given talents and abilities to be positive contriutors to the society.
