Wednesday, June 11, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action (COLA) says it has been given a copy of the 25-page preliminary report of the Audit Department with findings in its long-running investigation of the work of the Immigration and Nationality Department under ex-Minister of State Elvin Penner.

COLA says it is saving the biggest bombshells for a press conference on Thursday morning, but what little it has revealed does raise some eyebrows.

According to COLA, Prime Minister Dean Barrow has made no response to their formal request to what information he has on the investigations of Penner, including the Report.

But they were given the Report by an “anonymous source,” and it indicates that Director of Immigration Maria Marin in particular had “blatantly disrespected” the Audit Department and provided less-than-expected cooperation. Minister of Immigration Godwin Hulse was brought in as well; it is alleged that he has seen and had access to some of the key files wanted by the Department.

The Report, according to COLA, has uncovered evidence of a “ring of selected Immigration officials and trusted private citizens who engineered the systemic abuse of the process to manufacture Belizean passport and nationality certificates for several undeserving, unqualified individuals, including Won-Hong Kim.” In so doing, it adds, these persons may have committed prosecutable offenses.

As we said earlier, a press conference has been scheduled for Thursday morning at the Radisson Hotel , in Belize City where further details will be revealed.
