Thursday, July 10, 2014. ORANGE WALK BUREAU Reporting: Two and a half months after she went missing, the remains of 46 year old Sonia Abac was unearthed from a grave in the Dublum Bank area of Orange Walk on Wednesday.
Reports are that police were led to the site on a farm adjacent to where the body of Ramon Cervantes, Sr. was found but one of the persons in custody for the same investigation.
After two days of digging, the remains of Abac were unearthed and a relative positively identified them by the clothing she was last seen wearing as those of the Guatemalan national who resident in Orange Walk town.
50 year old Alejandro Perez, who is Sonia Abac’s common law husband told reporters that he feared the worst when his wife did not return after she was contracted to give a massage.
A taxi took her to a house where she was last seen or heard from.
The remains of Sonia Abac was given its proper burial at the Piemonte cemetery on Wednesday evening.
The bodies of Sonia Abac and Ramon Cervantes, Sr. were found on adjacent farms off the Honey Camp Road.
Whether both murders are linked is yet to be confirmed and charges are expected to be levied as soon as the directives are given by the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Police are looking for Manuel Castillo, the man believed to be the mastermind of the abduction and killing of Cervantes, Sr. and now of Sonia Abac.
