Friday, June 18, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: A dispute over a 1992 Toyota car lost on the Philip Goldson Highway has landed in the Magistrate’s Court.

Security guard Chika Essel, 34, a naturalized Belizean-Nigerian, accuses 40 year old Winfield Tasher, construction worker and by his account a taxi operator, of stealing his vehicle after Essel refused to rent it to him for taxi service on March 6 of this year.

Tasher, Essel claimed, had set his price at $40 per day.

Essel said the next day he came home from work and found the vehicle missing.

But according to Tasher, Essel did in fact rent him the vehicle and on a run up the highway with tourists the vehicle broke down at Mile 8 and he left it there, only to find it gone the following day.

The vehicle is valued at $4,000.

Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer set bail at $4,000 for Tasher, who pleaded not guilty, and ordered him to return on September 11.
