AARON HUMES Reporting: Police have quickly apprehended the man they suspect robbed 29 year old Kimana Thompson on Cemetery Road on Thursday afternoon. 29 year old Kevin Lewis, laborer of Aloe Vera Street in Belize City, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted robbery before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer.

According to Thompson she was approached by a man with a firearm who pointed it at her and demanded her belongings.

But police were already in the area and responded quickly, apprehending Lewis, who is now in remand until November 7.

Friday, October 10, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: Manager of MJ’s Night Club, 35 year old Ray Herrera, must pay fines of $4,000 after pleading guilty to two counts of employing persons not in possession of a temporary employment permit.

Immigration officers on routine patrol in the area of West Collet Canal Street where the club is located went in and observed two women apparently working as waitresses.

The officers asked the women for their identification and they produced Honduran passports, but could not present anything showing their status in Belize, including work permits.

As a result, their employer, Herrera was charged and fined $2,000 on each count by Magistrate Herbert Panton.
