Tuesday, April 21st, 2015. BMG: There has been much public discussion centered on the General Elections which many believe will be announced to happen late this year and currently, the tensions between the political parties are soaring to new heights.
Yesterday, April 20th 2015, a showdown took place in the Lake Independence Area between PUP’s Cordel Hyde and his UDP counterpart Mark King. This scene was over a piece of land, block 45 of parcel 61 and took place in the community space behind the Charles Bartlett Hyde building, in the presence of community members and police officers who were brought in to keep the peace.
Hyde confirms that he secured this land for the PUP Lake Independence Action Committee in 2007, while King is the holder of the title for the very same piece of land in the name of the GOB for UDP Lake Independence Committee. And while both claim they own the plot of land, Hyde is claiming he received his first but cannot produced it to verify his claim. On the other hand, Mark King has produced a title which shows that it recently was acquired in October 2014. During the showdown, Hyde’s camp held their ground and proceeded to shutter the building with plywood after King’s demolition contractor left the area. Yesterday evening, Hyde produced an authorization from the lands department dated June 2007, while King still has his title dated October, 2014.
