11 injured but no fatalities in Thursday afternoon accident

By BMG Staff: Yesterday afternoon around 1:30 there was a traffic accident around mile 34 and 35 of the Phillip Goldson highway near the old Intelco tower, which caused varying degrees of injuries to 11 people.

According to reports, a white pickup being driven by Corozal resident Fernando Chan experienced a blowout to one of the tires and the driver lost control. The vehicle ran off the road and flipped.

Of the 11 injured accident victims, those less seriously injured were transported to the Northern Regional Hospital while the more critical were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).
