By Chrisbert Garcia: Police have one suspect in custody for a rape and robbery in the Stann Creek District over the weekend. The detained man is pending investigation after a 48-year-old woman of San Ignacio, Cayo District, reported that she was raped and robbed of $372 in cash, as well as a cell phone valued at $100, only five minutes after she got off a bus at the mile-six junction near Dangriga Town.
The woman visited Dangriga’s police station and told officers that she was alone at the bus stop after getting off a bus, when a male person with a machete and a brown shirt tied on his head approached her, dragged her into the orange orchard nearby, then physically assaulted, raped and robbed her.
