Business senator bashes budget

By BBN Staff:In his presentation today, Senator for the Business sector, Mark Lizarraga said the bill that will be passed today allows government to borrow more money, further increasing Belize’s national debt.

In the draft budget for the fiscal year 2017-2018, $100 million will be financed (borrowed) as has been done each year.

Lizarraga said the budget speaks about responsible budgeting, however, there is no true cutting of the fat.

“Who is robbing our grandchildren?” Lizarraga asked.
