By BBN Staff: Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams today departs from his post at Eastern Division South, Belize City to take up his new position in Belmopan City.

Williams now assumes the post of Head of the Professional Standards Branch unit in the capital city.

Former head of the Gang Suppression Unit, Marco Vidal takes over the southside streets of Belize City.

Williams has been recognized for his influence in working with the gangs and bringing calm and some peace to the streets.

Yesterday, a farewell social was held at the Raccoon Street Police station to bid goodbye to Williams.

In an interview with the media, Williams implied that he may be in for an early retirement.

Williams said that the Commissioner of Police is the one who decides on transfers and he will finish this year in his new post but is not sure what will happen in January of next year.

“ I enjoy being a police officer and I want to continue serving my country in this capacity as a police officer.  You‘re all my brothers and sisters no matter what and like I said before, I will always carry you in my heart.  It is not goodbye, it is see you soon,” Williams stated.
