By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize, through Belize Infrastructure Ltd. (BIL), is looking for a private sector partner to take on the maintenance and operations of the Belize Civic Center Sports Complex, once it is completed.

BIL made the announcement through the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) website, saying that it wants a “dedicated” partner to take up the upkeep of the facility, slated to be completed by September. BIL said that it will be inviting potentially interested parties, with the right technical and financial capacity to participate in the procurement procedures for the management contract.

The contract will entail not only maintaining the facility but also funding any the necessary outfitting or capital improvements.

This Release serves as early notice for any initial preparation to interested and qualified parties, now alerted to this opportunity, and can expect to see the Request for Expressions of Interest from Belize Infrastructure Limited forthcoming,” BIL said.

The new Civic Center is 70 feet high covering 55,000 square feet. The building, equipped with international standard volleyball and basketball courts, bleachers, concession rooms, locker facilities, stage venue, ticket booths, a skateboard park, gym area and exterior five-a-side football pitch and many other amenities cost $32 million.
