/>By BBN Staff: A team of six Belize police officers from the Mobile Interdiction Team (MIT) and Customs are in Panama attending a training session.
The training is focused on ceasing terrorist threats and border security. The 4-day seminar was funded by the United States State Department and entails the detection of weapons of mass destruction and general protection of borders against terrorist threats.
Law enforcement officers from Panama, Belize, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica are attending the seminar.
Yesterday, 20 police officers, 10 Guatemalan officers and 5 custom and immigration officers were also trained by Crime Stoppers in Belize.
Salvadoran police officers also facilitated a training on counterfeit goods, gangs and contraband cigarettes.
Popular brand owners; Tommy Hilfiger, Nike and Puma presented to the participants on how to differentiate between counterfeit goods. The training was held at the Belize training academy.
