Couple robbed on Independence Day in Belmopan

By BBN Staff: On Independence Day (September 21) around 1:30 AM, Jasmine Chávez,18, of Maya Mopan area, Belmopan reported that around 1:10 AM, she  was along with her  friend Jason Barrientos walking on the central walkway heading towards  San Martin area, Belmopan and upon reaching in front of the Baptist church, they were approached by two male persons, one of whom pulled out a handgun and pointed the firearm to her head and demanded all their belongings.

The men robbed her of a gold chain valued at $300.00 and a white Samsung S4 Digicell phone valued at $500.00.

Barrientos was robbed of his black ZTE Digicell phone.

The culprits then made good their escape.

Police are investigating.
