Minister of National Security tours coast guard facility

BBN Staff: Today, John Saldivar, the Minister of National Security toured the improved Belize Coast Guard facility at Southern Long Caye in the Belize District.

According to a release from GOB’s Press Office, the new facility provides increased efficiency for the troops stationed there and increases their capabilities to aggressively patrol Belizean waters.

Southern Long Caye serves as an important point of control for illegal and criminal activities on our high seas and since the establishment of this base, a number of illegal activities have been detected and deterred by the Belize Coast Guard.

Saldivar was accompanied on the tour by Chief Executive Officer Felix Enriquez, Rear Admiral John Borland, Ministry of National Security personnel, and members of the Belize Coast Guard.
