By BBN Staff: Authorities in southern Belize are reporting a fatal traffic accident that occurred yesterday afternoon around 1:50 on the Stann Creek Valley Road.
According to police, the accident happened between Mile 6 and 7 in southern Belize. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a Hispanic man motionless on the road suffering from head and body injuries, and on the left side of the road was a great Mitsubishi Outlander.
Police investigation revealed that Shamir Leslie, 24, of Placencia Village was traveling along with Bernard Leslie, 23, also of Placencia Village, and Teron Terry, 27, of Seine Beight and upon approaching Xiabel Gas station, the Hispanic man who was later identified as Pedro Cucul, 82, of Big Falls, Toledo District was walking across the road to catch a bus when he was hit by the Mitsubishi Outlander.
Cucul was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries.
Police are investigating.
