Mossiah fined $2,000 for beating female football referee

Posted: Wednesday, August 15, 2018. 2:11 pm CST.

BBN Staff: Yesterday Darnell Mossiah, 27, pleaded guilty to wounding in the Corozal Magistrate Court.

As a result he was fined $2,000 plus $5 for the cost of court.

His charges came after he punched female football referee, Yuri Daniels, 32, in the face on Sunday.

The attack occurred because Daniels gave him a red card during a football match between San Antonio and Concepcion villages.

The red card was for his unsportsmanlike behavior on the football field.

The matter has since been condemned by both major political parties and the National Sports Council of Belize.

Yesterday the council announced that Mossiah would be banned from all its sporting stadiums for the next five years.
