Guatemalan charged for illegal entry and unlicensed firearm

BBN Staff: A Guatemalan national was charged on Monday, March 18, for ‘kept firearm without a gun license’ and for ‘illegal entry into Belize’.

Hector Lopez was busted on March 13, in Machaquilha, Toledo with one – 16 gauge shot gun, five 20-gauge cartridges and two 16-gauge cartridges.

Lopez appeared in court on Monday to answer to charges of  one count of ‘kept firearm without a gun license’ and two counts of ‘kept ammunition without a gun license’. Lopez pled guilty to the charges.

He was sentenced to one year for each count to run concurrently.

Additionally, Lopez was fined $1,000 for illegal entry to be paid forthwith in default of one-month imprisonment.
