By BBN Staff: Mexican authorities saved a four-year-old girl from Belize from drowning at Mahahual Beach.
The Mexican news outlet Riviera Maya News reported that the child was with her family during the Easter weekend when she was swept up by sea swells and carried away by the ocean current.
Marine officers patrolling the area heard the family’s cry for help and mounted a quick rescue; however, she had to be taken to a hospital for medical treatment and observation because she reportedly swallowed “a fair amount of water.”
