Santiago “Santi” Castillo to contest Caribbean Shores seat in 2020 General Elections

Posted: Saturday, May 11, 2019. 9:52 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Former Caribbean Shores area representative for the United Democratic Party (UDP), Santiago “Santi” Castillo to contest Caribbean Shores seat in 2020 General Elections.

Yesterday Castillo posted on his Facebook account that he wants to publicly declare his interest, noting that Darrell Bradley, who ran for Caribbean Shores in the last general election, will not be doing so again. Castillo notes that he had won the seat by 700 votes in the 2012 elections but stepped down in 2015 allowing Bradley to run.

“However, that took us backwards, and in hindsight was a mistake. What I do now know is that I am the best person to unseat the present PUP Area Rep,” Castillo said.

In the 2015 elections, Darrell Bradley, a former Belize City Mayor, got 1,721 votes while his opponent Kareem Musa got 1,777 votes.
