Team of chefs represent Belize in Taste of the Caribbean

By BBN Staff: Belize’s team of elite chefs will again be competing in the Taste of the Caribbean competition being held in Miami, Florida from June 22-25.

The team, which consists of chefs Sean Kuylen, Eva Longsworth, Rohel Lisby, Maria Urbina, Elisa Carr, and bartender, Mark Jacobs, will be competing in the team category, while individual members will compete in several other categories being held at the event.

The event features a seafood competition, beef competition, bartender competition, Master Chef Competition, and Junior Chef Competition. In the team category, Belize’s chefs will have to prepare food for 40 people within four hours, without being informed beforehand what they will be asked to prepare.

The Taste of the Caribbean competition, which is the premier culinary competition for the region, has been running since 1993. The event is also used as a platform for educational exchange and showcasing Caribbean culture to the world. Team Belize participated in the 2018 event and returned home with silver medals.
