By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MTCA) has become the first ministry within the Government of Belize (GOB) to be certified by the International Organization for Standardization for quality standards and best practices.
The MTCA said that it received a letter from its certification agent in Jamaica, which stated that as of July 18, 2019, the ministry has been approved for the ISO 9001:2015 standard. The certification means that the ministry is recognized internationally for the implementation of quality standards in business practices, customer service, risk management and other areas relating to the meeting of customer needs.
The standard also means that the ministry has been identified as an entity that is continuously striving to improve on those areas which it has been certified for. The ministry said that the certification is the culmination of two year’s worth of work to improve standards, and thanked the Belize Bureau of Standards for its key role in making the certification possible.
