By BBN Staff: Simone Biles, the United States Gymnast with Belizean heritage has won her sixth US title with an incredible routine that instantly started trending online.
Biles was at the Women’s Gymnastics Championship in Kansas City, Missouri, where she ended her routine with a tumbling pass which consists of three twists and two flips. The crowd went wild and the US media was quick to point out that the move was the first of its kind landed in women’s gymnastics history. Biles also made history Friday night at the competition when she became the first gymnast ever to attempt a double-twisting, double somersault dismount from the balance beam.
Biles took the championship with an overall score of 118.500 throughout the event, beating out second placer Sunia Lee nearly five points clear, and thrid placer Grand McCallum by almost 7 points.
Biles winning her sixth title also means she has matched the record set by Clara Lomady back in 1952. Biles, 22, is poised to break the 67-year record.
