BYM questions ‘write off’ to Joshua Perdomo

Posted: Wednesday, August 21, 2019. 1:38 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize Youth Movement (BYM) issued a statement today saying that it is appalled at the recent actions of the current UDP administration in writing off the debt owed to the government by Joshua Perdomo, the son of former UDP Cabinet Minister, Carlos Perdomo.

The BYM says that this $40,000.00 write-off further highlights the rampant corruption and nepotism that is rotting at the core of this administration.

“While our Belizean youth struggle to further their education, we in the BYM, are appalled that there exists no parity in the way the Barrow administration is running our country,” the BYM said.

The BYM demands the immediate retraction of this write-off and urges the government to be a government for all and not only for the selected few that have reaped the benefits since 2008.

The group further calls on all other youth organizations, civil society, and unions to join us in calling out this recent unconscionable act by the Government of Belize.

“The youths of Belize are the future and in order to have a bright one, we must arm ourselves with the necessary tools to better our lives, communities, and country,” the group stated.
