Altitude is big Premier League winner; Belize stop St. Vincent in back to back friendly matches

Posted: Sunday, September 1, 2019. 9:23 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The big western clash between Premier League co-leaders Belmopan Bandits and Verdes for this afternoon will have to wait as the League takes a back seat for the next few days to facilitate international play.

Belize ended the second friendly with a score of 1-0 this afternoon on the Bandits’ home ground, Isidoro Beaton Stadium, over St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with talisman Deon McCauley scoring.

On Friday, Highking Roberts was the scorer for Belize as the Vincentians snatched a 1-1 draw at the same venue.

The Jaguars will head out to French Guiana for their first match of the CONCACAF Nations League B Division on Wednesday evening, then come back home to play Grenada on Sunday afternoon, September 8.

With Bandits and Verdes sidelined, Altitude FC of Independence was the big winners on the weekend, defeating bottom side Valley Pride 4-2 Saturday evening.

Also on Saturday, Belize Defence Force and San Pedro Pirates played out an entertaining 3-3 draw on the island, while today there was no separation between Wagiya and Placencia Assassins at the Carl Ramos Stadium in a scoreless draw.

With one game more, Altitude move up to 10 points, three behind Bandits and Verdes. BDF, Wagiya and San Pedro all return 7 points, Placencia 5 and Valley Pride none.
