Posted: Tuesday, September 17, 2019. 4:38 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize City Council officially opened the doors of the new City Hall on Friday.

In a Facebook post by Mayor Belize it says, “A vision first seen by Former Mayor Darrell Bradley is now a reality finalized by Mayor Bernard Wagner and the Belize City Council.”

“Members of the community gathered for a ribbon-cutting celebration, unveiling the new and improved Belize City Hall building where we will continue to serve our valued residents,” it continued.

In their remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony Mayor Bernard Wagner and former Mayor, Darrel Bradley, expressed their appreciation for the completion of the project and the people who helped to make it possible.

“They also both highlighted the value of working together in a bi-partisan fashion for the benefit of our city which was a key element in this undertaking,” said the post.

This new building will house all the council’s departments except for the Traffic Department, which will remain where it is and the Municipal Court which will be relocated to the old City Hall.

As a result of this new building, the council will reduce rent expense it had incurred to house it HR and PR Departments as well as the Special Constable Department and the Court.
