Orange Walk-based fitness center hosting dance marathon to support cancer patient

By BBN Staff: Divas Under Construction fitness center in Orange Walk is hosting a dance fitness marathon in memory of one cancer warrior and in support of another.

The “Her fight is my fight Zumbathon” is scheduled for November 1, at the Muffles College Auditorium, from 6:30  p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will feature dance fitness routines from four instructors:  Luis Borges, Aarons Diaz, Emmanuel Robinson and Mineesha Thomas.

Alva Ferguson, founder/owner Diva’s Under Construction, said that the event is being dedicated to the memory of Elsie Novelo, who recently lost her fight against breast cancer. Funds raised from the event will be donated to the Novelo family, as well as used to assist a member of the fitness center currently battling cancer.

Ferguson said that she has been hosting events to give back to the community for the past four years, helping cancer patients and feeding programs and even providing scholarships for students. She stressed that she is a fitness enthusiast and recognizes that cancer is a major problem in Belize and the world and that fitness is one of the best ways of fighting cancer. Interested persons can pick up their tickets at the Divas Under Construction gym in Orange Walk.
