Posted: Thursday, October 10, 2019. 3:34 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Shortly after 5 o’clock this morning, a police patrol was drawn to a black Nissan Murano on the George Price Highway near Belize City.

Officers pursued the vehicle but it refused to come to a stop.

And so during a high speed chase through Belize City, the driver of the Murano collided into a lamp post on Linda Vista Street in the Lake Independence constituency.

The driver of the vehicle was then nabbed but the other occupants fled into some nearby bushes.

Officers pursued when they heard gunfire reportedly from the fleeing persons. As such, they returned fire.

They later found Kenrick Reneau suffering from gunshot injuries.

He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital while the driver was taken to the police station.

Investigators say that a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of burglary instruments.
