Three-year-old dies in Silk Grass house fire

By BBN Staff: Authorities are investigating the cause of a house fire that claimed the life of a 3-year-old toddler from Silk Grass.

Around 2:35 yesterday afternoon, police responded to reports that a wooden home and a Ford pickup were engulfed in flames.

Efijenia Lobos, 29, told police that around 2:25 p.m. she left her four children ages 3 months; three; five and six inside her two bedroom home.

Lobos says she was gone for about 10 minutes and when she returned the house was on fire.

When she checked at the neighbor, she noted that three of her children were rescued.

Investigations revealed that one of the children was playing with a lighter inside the front bedroom situated at the eastern part of the building and a sponge caught on fire. 

The body of 3-year-old Isaias Lobos was recovered after the blaze.

Police investigations continue.
