By BBN Staff: Condé Nast Traveller, a luxury travel magazines based in England has named an archaeological site in Belize one of its “7 Wonders of the World for 2020.”

The Caracol archaeological site made the list, which was compiled by renowned travel writer Aaron Millar. The list highlights “the most awe-inspiring places on the planet for stargazing, wildlife spotting , and astonishing panoramas,” according to Millar.

The article highlights the pristine jungle surrounding the site, the remarkable architecture of the Maya and the fact that tourism has a less crowded feel than other sites, as it sees around 12 or fewer visitors for the day.

Millar described Caracol as “the most authentic way to experience the mystery and magic of the ancient Mayas today.”

The mention is the second time for 2019 that Condé Nast Traveller has featured Belize on a list, following the  Turtle Inn in Placencia being featured on the Condé Nast Traveller’s Gold List Hotels 2020.

The feature also closes out a stellar year for Belize with respect to positive international mentions. In 2019 Belize has been highlighted by renowned media houses and publications in India, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States among others.
