Police detain but release suspects in the murder of Ernesto Williams

By BBN Staff: Last Friday, Ernesto Williams, a popular businessman, was gunned down on Orange Street in Belize City.

Police had indicated that the incident was caught on camera. After reviewing the said footage police today told the press that they were unable to identify the shooter.

When asked for a motive for this murder, police were unable to comment.

However, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, told the press, ” “We know that he is from a particular group from that location and where he was on that day of his unfortunate death belongs to another group in that area.”

When asked if the victim had been lured to the area, police claimed otherwise.

Police say that several persons from the Pregnant Alley area were detained but released as there was not sufficient evidence to charge anyone.

As investigations remain ongoing police have beefed up security measures to prevent any possible retaliation between the two main groups operating in the area.
