BREAKING: Emergency Cabinet meeting called for tomorrow; Is John Saldivar’s fate on the line?

By Aaron Humes: Breaking Belize News (BBN) has been reliably informed that Prime Minister Dean Barrow has scheduled an emergency Cabinet meeting for Wednesday morning.

It is expected to be held at the Edward Laing building, home of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also home to one of the Prime Minister’s offices.

With today’s revelations about the extent of John Saldivar’s involvement with Lev Dermen and Jacob Kingston, a decision is expected on his continuing as leader-elect of the United Democratic Party and a Minister of Government.

Today the party issued a statement reminding that Barrow is still party leader and Prime Minister until he gives up both posts.

Saldivar’s insistence that he has done nothing wrong has taken a significant hit in light of Kingston’s testimony today, and more is expected later this week.

Barrow had previously promised to fire any Cabinet Minister who took money from Dermen for any reason, including those in the Leadership race.
