CitCo revises operations hours for State of Emergency

Posted: Friday, April 3, 2020. 3:55 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Some of the Belize City Council’s operations remain open with effect from today after amendments to the State of Emergency orders better reflected municipal body operations as essential.

The Council’s cashiers at City Hall will be open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but residents are encouraged to pay online or at the Council’s bank accounts at Scotiabank (No. 9133780-91595) and Atlantic Bank (No. 100225187).

As a reminder, for the next three months, residential property taxes are discounted 15 percent and commercial property taxes 10 percent.

The Cemetery and Traffic Offices stay open but payments for renewal of driver licenses, grave research, and burial arrangements can be made via the banks as above. Once paid, send a copy of the receipt and vehicle registration to [email protected] and the sticker will be sent to your email.

Sanitation services continue including street cleaning and waste collection. All waste must be bagged, not loose and try not to touch your containers.

The Michael Finnegan Market remains open all week, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Sundays.

The Council asks Belizeans to continue observing the social distancing and other protocols.
