By BBN Staff: There is a situation brewing at the western border between Belize and Guatemala.
The official and long-established trade between the two countries came to a temporary halt when Belizean authorities stopped Guatemalan trucks from entering Belize at the official border to pick up corn from suppliers in Belize.
The trucks usually pick up the corn in Spanish Lookout, Cayo and return with the product through the official border.
In response, Guatemalans truckers have decided to protest and are now stopping other cargo trucks destined with supplies for Belize from passing through the border.
The cargo trucks are seen lined up on the Guatemalan side of the border waiting to enter Belize.
