By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health issued its COVID-19 update a short while ago and reported that 51 more samples, including some that form part of its random testing program, were screened today. All 51 samples returned negative.

Up to date, the Ministry has conducted 1485 tests.

According to the Ministry, it continues to monitor the number of COVID-19 cases in neighbouring Guatemala and Mexico.

The Ministry reports that Guatemala now has 2,743 cases and Mexico is now at 69,856 cases.

The Ministry says that Belize’s testing rate is now twice that of these two (2) countries.

The total number of global cases has surpassed the 5.4 million mark with the United States having 30.8% of global cases. The mortality rate for COVID-19 remains at 6.4%.

“We must all continue to prepare for living under new norms,” the statement from the Ministry said.
