Ministry of Health closely monitors COVID-19 cases in region

By BBN Staff: Today, on Ask the Epxerts, Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero informed that the Ministry of Health continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 cases in the region.

According to data obtained, Manzanero said that in the last 24 hours, the United States of America reported 5,480 new cases, Mexico reported 3,455 new cases and Honduras reported 212 cases.

Manzanero also noted that Guatemala reported 194 new cases, El Salvador 67 new cases and Jamaica saw 8 new cases of COVID-19.

Manzanero also shared that over the last 24 hours, Mexico registered more than 500 deaths to COVID-19.

The US registered 256 deaths in 24 hours and Honduras registered 6 deaths.

El Salvador reported 1 death and Guatemala reported 4 deaths.

Manzanero also referred to a report from PAHO which, noted that an increase in cases is expected in Central America.

Belize is now going into the 7th week since we last documented a case but the Ministry continues to conduct testing.
