National Hydrological Service informs of flooding on the Rio Hondo

By BBN Staff: The National Hydrological Service of Belize informed today that flooding is occurring on the Rio Hondo.

Communities within the Albion Island areas, Douglas and downstream to the coast will continue to remain under Flood Warning.

The general weather condition is for some cloudy spells with isolated showers and thunderstorms.

A relatively moist northeasterly airflow prevails over the area.

The outlook is for cloudy skies with showers and thunderstorms.

Flood levels on the Blue Creek Sub catchment of the Rio Hondo remains above the historically recorded Hurricane Mitch Level, but continues to recede slowly.

Flood Levels at: Santa Cruz, San Antonio, San Roman, and Douglas are falling. The NEW RIVER at Tower Hill and Caledonia is above normal and steady.

On the Macal River, reservoir levels remains below the spillways at Chalillo, Mollejon and Vaca facilities. At San Ignacio, levels are below the low-level bridge.

The Mopan River at Benque Viejo Town is normal and steady.

On the Belize river, levels at Banana Bank and Double Run are normal and steady.

The Crooked Tree lagoon is below the causeway and falling.

The Sibun River near Freetown Sibun is above normal and falling.

Levels are normal and steady on the Southern Lagoon near Gales Point Village. The Sittee River at Kendal Bridge is normal and steady.

The Rio Grande  at Big Falls and San Pedro Columbia is normal and steady.

The Moho River at Jordan is normal and steady.

The Temash river near Crique Sarco is normal and steady.
