By BBN Staff: Police are investigating the death of a man that occurred while he was undergoing a surgery procedure in Belize City.
Lourdes Cal told police that on July 7, her husband, Jose Cal, a pastor and cabinet maker was taken to a private medical facility in Belize City for surgery.
Jose was undergoing an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.
The wife alleges that during the procedure an instrument used by the doctor burst her husband’s pancreas which was swollen.
As a result of that, the fluid spread in his body causing damage to his other organs and he died on July 10.
The family says that the body was released to them without a death certificate.
A post mortem is scheduled to be conducted on the body.
