Director of Health Services; contact tracing completed for Santa Elena COVID-19 patient

Posted: Wednesday, July 22, 2020. 9:37 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero shared with the media that the contact tracing for the Santa Elena COVID-19 patient has been completed.

Manzanero says that all the close contacts tested negative for the virus.

The physician at the private medical facility where the patient visited before being detected also tested negative.

Therefore, Manzanero says that it is not community spread.

The Ministry has since determined that there is a link to a Mexican community where he would have issues to do with the scrapping of metals where he sells the items.

“We are assuming that is where he got it from. The reason why we also talk about community spread because none of his contacts are also positive. So it seems to be an issue that was brought across the border,” Manzanero said.

The Ministry believes that he got infected in late June.
