By BBN Staff: Today health authorities say that COVID-19 community spread has been confirmed in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

Director of Health Services Dr. Marvin Manzanero said that the country has a total of 86 confirmed cases with 53 active caes being followed by the Ministry of Health.

Ten of those cases have been linked to San Pedro.

“We are aware as a ministry that people have been leaving the island, which makes it difficult to trace all contacts,” Manzanero said.

He added that the recommendation from the ministry at this time is that all non-essential travel countrywide be suspended.

By the end of the day we may be confirming 23 more cases, Manzanero added.
