By BBN Staff: The Minister of Works and Area Representative of Cayo Central, Rene Montero, issued a statement confirming that an employee of the Santa Elena compound has tested positive for COVID-19.

“I take this opportunity to implore all Belizeans and residents of Cayo Central to break the stigma and empathize with those affected, as COVID-19 does not discriminate against anyone. Let’s show our support for those who are affected as we fight this battle together,” Montero said.

Montero urged the public to follow guidelines from the Ministry of Health.

“I extend my best wishes to our colleague, for a speedy recovery,” he added.

The Minister’s release ended, “May God continue to protect Cayo Central and Belize.”
