Director of Health Services again warns against large social gatherings after major weekend parties

By Aaron Humes: The Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, notes lamentably the continued reports of large social gatherings, defined by law as numbers greater than 10 and involving persons not living at the place where the party is held.

The reports are from areas across the country, and their continued hosting “certainly doesn’t help us in the prevention measures that we need to keep if we are to have a decrease in cases.” In fact these large social gathering can become super spreaders of the novel coronavirus, especially if masks are not worn or if social distancing is not observed.

Police this weekend arrested as many as 60 persons attending parties in Orange Walk Town and the village of Roaring Creek, Cayo District. The Roaring Creek party was said to have included children as well.

Social gatherings are limited only to persons living in the same household, and ideally without usage of alcohol, drugs and loud music.
