Do you need ID card to vote on Election Day? Elections and Boundaries says not really

Posted: Monday, October 26, 2020. 2:31 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: For those of us who haven’t kept track of our voter identification cards since the last election, fear not: Chief Elections Officer Josephine Tamai says you won’t need it on Election Day.

By law, the voter is required to possess and present the ID in order to vote, but the advancement of technology has made it surplus to requirements.

The CEO says each polling station will be equipped with electoral binders complete with photographs and other information on each of the more than 180 thousand registered electors countrywide.

As long as you are on the electoral roll, show up and vote if you can. We will have a further discussion of the practicalities of voting in the era of COVID-19 later.
