By BBN Staff: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to plague the world, health experts are closely monitoring mental health impacts.

Throughout the world, people are losing loved ones to COVID-19 and others are recovering but are worried about their families and the economic impacts on their households.

An article by the BBC noted that COVID-19 has increased anxiety for many people.

Susan Kemp, a copywriter and part-time student expressed her feelings of disappointment.

“The main symptom is I start crying. I very much feel like I’m going to die, and then I cry one of those cries where your body and lungs feel sore afterwards,” she says. This is coupled with a strong disappointment and fear.

Psychologists are concerned that such symptoms and others may remain in the long term.

Author of Psychology of Pandemic, Steven Taylor said that for a minority of people, life will not return to normal due to the impact of the pandemic on their mental health.

Psychologists believe that obsessive-compulsive disorder could cause lasting impacts even after the pandemic.
