Two named storms active, weather experts monitor a potential third

Posted: Wednesday, November 11, 2020. 3:01 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The latest tropical weather update from the United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) shows two active storms and an area in the Eastern Pacific with the potential for a third storm to form.

The NHC said that Tropical Storm Eta is bringing rain and storm-force winds to the Southwestern coast of Florida. A storm surge warning has also been issued for a portion of Florida’s West Coast.

In the eastern Atlantic, Subtropical Storm Theta continues to weaken in open water and is expected to dissipate later this week without making landfall.

The NHC is also monitoring an area north of Colombia, which has a 40 percent probability of cyclone formation within the next two days.

There are no other systems out at this time.
