By Aaron Humes: The National Meteorological Service says the rainy weather will continue over Belize into the weekend.

The next 24 hours bring cloudy to overcast skies with continuous rain, outbreaks of showers, and a few thunderstorms.

Winds are from the northeast at 10 to 20 knots and gusty; the sea state is rough with waves of six to nine feet. A small craft warning remains in effect for the coastal waters of the country. Operators of small crafts should remain in a safe harbor.

A flood warning is in effect for low-lying and flood prone areas of the country due to heavy rainfall. Residents in the Belize River Valley and downstream should remain vigilant as the rising floodwaters move downstream towards the coast.

Temperatures along the coast will hit 82 degrees Fahrenheit; 84 in inland areas and 70 in the hills. Tonight, temperatures will reach 76 degrees along the coast; 74 in inland areas, and 64 in the hills.

Tides will be low at 8:41 a.m. this morning and 7:43 p.m. tonight; and high at 2:58 p.m. this afternoon.

The Sun sets at 5:16 p.m. this evening and rises at 6:01 a.m. Saturday morning.

Tropical weather outlook: Tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, or the Gulf of Mexico during the next 48 hours.

The outlook for Saturday and Saturday night is for some showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms, especially over the south and coast.
