Government names new Ministry of Economic Development CEO

By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize announced on Friday that a new Chief Executive Officer has been appointed for the Ministry of Economic Development, Amilin Mendez.

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) noted that Mendez holds a Master’s of Science in International Trade Policy with Specialization in Trade in Services and Market Access of Goods and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of the West Indies and is also currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Project Management at the University for International Cooperation.

“The new CEO will support the efforts of the Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño who is the substantive minister in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, and ministers of state, Hon. Michael Espat and Hon. Christopher Coye,” the  OPM said.
 
Apart from her academic qualifications, the OPM also noted that Mendez has  “substantial experience” in national and regional project development with a special interest in education and private sector-driven investment.
