Julius Espat on investigation of Public Works equipment at private farm: “Will go to the max and take it to the court”

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Works continues to conduct its investigation into the alleged misuse of public resources by Former Minister of Works, Rene Montero.

In an interview with Plus TV yesterday, Espat confirmed that the Ministry continues to investigate the matter and confirmed that equipment belonging to the Government of Belize were removed from Montero’s private farm.

Espat added that testimonies have been recorded of people who worked on that private farm and were being paid by the Government of Belize.

“We have store orders of fuel that were used for his personal use… and what that leads us to, the relevant authorities will have to tell us. But, in my position, I will go for everything. I will go for civil, I will go for criminal. I will go to the max,” Espat said.

Just after the November 11th general elections, the Ministry was able to retrieve several pieces of heavy duty equipment belonging to the Government of Belize from private farms in Cayo.
