Prime Minister advises against Christmas parties

By BBN Staff: After the inaugural sitting of the House of Representatives on Friday, Prime Minister John Briceno said that it is a somber time for the country.

Briceno said that the country is in the midst of the worst crisis that Belize has ever seen in terms of health as well as economically.

“Government can do everything as much as possible to try to fix things but if Belizeans do not participate, if they do not help, we are going to lose this battle. You have to help us. Try to maintain your distance, not even our families came today because we wanted to give that example how serious it is. For Christmas please, no Christmas parties,” Briceno urged.

Briceno encouraged companies to show appreciation for frontline workers instead of hosting Christmas parties.

The Prime Minister also encouraged Belizeans that in leiu of parties, to share food with those that need it and do everything possible to be able to go through this crisis together.
