Commissioner of Police: There is a need to extend the curfew

Posted: Wednesday, December 16, 2020. 10:24 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams said that the idea of a lockdown must be given some thought.

“ It is easy to say lockdown the country but the effect that a lockdown is going to have on people who are employed and are (living) from hand to mouth. A lockdown would leave people without a job and create an additional burden on the state to keep families going,” Williams explained.

While a lockdown must be considered along with the effects it would have on people working and trying to make ends meet, Williams says that he sees a need for stricter measures including extending the curfew.

Those stricter measures would be to get people to stop behaving selfish and act more responsibly, Williams says that bringing the curfew at an earlier hour would also assist.

The Prime Minister is yet to update the nation on any other measures after a meeting with the Ministry of Health and Wellness on Tuesday.
