Travelers seen disregarding quarantine regulations at Belize City bus terminal

Posted: Monday, December 21, 2020. 2:35 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Despite the government roll out of stringent measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and hundreds of arrests for violating those regulations, numerous people were recorded breaking the regulations today at the Belize City bus terminal.\

Breaking Belize News received footage that showed a chaotic scene at the terminal where a large crowd gathered to board a bus, not respecting social distancing and some.of them were not wearing masks.

The incident follows the Sunday, December 20 rollout of new quarantine regulations by the government if Belize, as well as the November rollout of a mandatory ticketing system for bus travel.

BBN reminds all Belizeans, particularly those traveling by bus that failure to properly wear masks in public and the failure to practice social distancing are currently against the law.
